Cathy Barton Para has passed away
From Dana Hamilton, 18 Apr 2019:
It is with a grieving heart that I must pass on to everyone that Cathy Barton passed away Wednesday evening after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, Dave, family, friends, musicians, and the music that she loved so much and shared so freely with everyone. Several Carp Camp friends were with her playing her favorite tunes. I met Cathy 41 years ago. She was the second hammer dulcimer player I ever saw. From that day she encouraged me, shared tunes with me, shared playing ideas and became a good friend. She was always encouraging and was jut fun to be around. The dulcimer has taken a terrible hit. Her banjo lies silent, her hammer dulcimer slowing going out of tune but the tunes and music she shared with us will go on as we gather, play, jam, and pass the music on to the next generation and the ones after that. Please pray for Dave as he struggles with this great loss.
Dave wrote Cathy's obituary and it was published in the local newspaper.
